Frequently Asked Questions
How soon should I book?
I book strictly on a first come first served basis so to avoid disappointment, please give me as much notice as possible especially for events on a weekend or bank holiday. I will take last minute bookings if I am available but please note
that the summer and Christmas periods are a particularly busy time for face painters.
Which areas do you cover?
I cover a 50 mile radius of Kettering that includes all of Northamptonshire and parts of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.
Please contact me to find out if I cover your location. If not, I probably know of another face painter nearer to you.
Do you have a minimum booking time?
Yes, I have a minimum booking time of 2 hours.
What do I need to provide?
Nothing other than a space for me to set up in, if you have a table I can use that’s helpful but I’ii bring one with me anyway, “just in case“ and I always use my own “ special“ face painting chair. If a job is outdoors I do require adequate shade or shelter.
Do you have Public Liability Insurance?
Yes I am insured under FACE’s group policy with indemnity insurance cover for £5,000,000.00 and I am happy to provide a photocopy upon request.
Are you CRB checked?
A CRB should not be necessary for a face painter as we are not childminders and request that we are not left to supervise any children as this is difficult to do whilst working. However, for your peace of mind I do hold a current enhanced CRB check.
What products do you use for face painting?
The products we use are purpose formulated, hypo allergenic, have antibacterial properties, carry a CE rating and are FDA/EU/EEC compliant/approved or have followed the guidelines set by these bodies. The face paints are water-based, easy to apply and to remove with soap and water. At present I have Snazaroo, Grimas, Paradise, Wolfe Bros, Diamond FX & Kryolan paints in my kit. The glitters I use are cosmetic grade.
When should I NOT have my child’s face painted?
In the interests of public health I am unable to paint anyone if they have, or in the opinion of the painter appears to have any open cuts or sores on their face, any infectious conditions such as cold sores, impetigo, chicken pox or conjunctivitis, or who seems unwell.
If they have reacted to face paint in the past they should not have their face painted, however children are more likely to react to the soap or wipes used to remove the Face Paint rather than the paint itself.
Due to restrictions of insurance and the recommendations of the facepaint manufacturers I do not paint children under the age of 3 years. All children must be able to confirm that they want to be painted and awake!
How many faces can you paint in an hour?
I can paint an average of 10 faces in an hour depending upon the complexity of the designs chosen.
What is the best way to remove face paint?
The best way to remove face paint is to soak the face in lukewarm water and then gently rub it off with a flannel and baby shampoo. Please do not use baby wipes as these are not effective and leave paint on the skin making it appear stained.
Also in rare cases some children have been known to have a reaction when a baby wipe has been used to remove face paint.
How much do you charge?
If you would like me to give you a quote for any of my services please contact me by phone or e mail for my current rates.
My minimum booking time is 2 hours. The price depends on the distance I need to travel, services required, the number of guests attending and the length of time my services are required.
How do I book you ?
Let me know the date and time of your event as soon as possible by phone or e mail, I will send you 2 copies of my booking form/terms and conditions. I require the return of a signed form and deposit to secure the booking. I require 14 days notice
of cancellation. Payment is due on the day by cash or cheque.
